Somatic Therapy: A Mindbody Approach
Some of the patterns that keep you stuck are not just mental—they are in your body. You need an holistic therapy that addresses both mind and body to break out of these patterns. Somatic Experiencing® uses mindfulness of the present-moment experience to re-regulate the nervous system. It is a mind-body therapy that does more than just calm you down, it makes you more capable.
In these somatic therapy sessions, we will be talking, but we won’t be talking your way out of the problem. Rather, we will be strengthening the resilience of your whole system. You may have more energy, be able to take action more easily, and sleep better. You may be able to function better at work, improve your relationships, set better boundaries and generally feel like you can handle things better.
The work may seem slow at first, but the process is effective. We will work intentionally and methodically so as to create new patterns, but not overwhelm you (which reinforces old patterns), so you will see results sooner.
